Description
Bridey McCaffrey’s life has never been perfect. All she’s ever known is control. But as tragedy strikes on the farm, a new nightmare unfolds for her and her three children. It will take all her remaining strength and courage to keep herself and her children safe.
Sergeant Cole Delaney is looking forward to some quiet, small-town policing, until he realises that secrets run deep in the town of Moonie River. And the family living out at Mindaleny Ridge appear to be a magnet for trouble. He’s no longer arresting goats for chewing up Mrs Lee’s petunias or breaking up fights over a poker game in the park. There is something far more sinister going on in his town. And his growing attraction to Bridey makes him even more determined to keep her and her young family safe.

Juanita Kees –
Juanita Kees sets a new bar for romantic small-town suspense fiction with Shattered – the latest instalment in the Unfinished Business series.
Bridey McCaffrey has led the most traumatic life imaginable before this story even begins, and things only get worse with the turn of every page. My heart felt so sad for Bridey and her three boys, all of them victims of a religious cult that persecutes and exploits its female members.
This is a fast-paced story that captures the terror of women at the mercy of evil men. Unfortunately through daily news stories of human trafficking and domestic violence, it’s a story that is all too real at times.
Luckily though with Shattered, we have the wonderful hero of police sergeant Cole, and a lovely cast of secondary characters to lighten the load.
Bridey and Cole have a slow-burn romance which suits the story, given the imminent danger Bridey and her boys encounter.
The remote rural setting of Bridey’s farm makes a great backdrop for the suspense to unfold. I loved seeing some of my favourites from previous books, including TJ, Lily and Mark, and their involvement with making a safe haven for Bridey and her extended family makes heart-warming reading.
Highly recommended. ~ Lily Malone (Goodreads)
