Welcome to Calhoun Customs Garage! We’ll be open for business soon.
Writing the first book in this series was exciting and exhilarating. As writers, we are encouraged to write what we love, so I do. For those who don’t know it, I’m a bit of a speed-demon and a rev-head. I love the roar and power of a V8 engine, and then there’s the lure and excitement of the track.
Cars have featured in a few of my books, like Home to Bindarra Creek and Under the Hood, so when the opportunity arose to write a series about a custom car garage in small town USA, I couldn’t ignore the rush of adrenaline. It’s hard to pick from my favourite passions: the rush of NASCAR or the art of Counts Kustoms, West Coast Customs or Overhaulin’, so I combined my love for all into a series – Calhoun Customs Garage.
Book one kicks off the series with an introduction to the Calhouns and their backstory starring the eldest brother, Chase, and Charlie, the girl who steals his heart (and his sandwich). Here is a sneak peek to get your motor running:
Overdrive
Chase Calhoun has worked hard at making Calhoun Customs a world-wide sensation and keeping his father’s dream alive. He hasn’t had time to think about settling down, so he’s not expecting to find love or new life hiding in the attic of their garage among the ghosts of his family’s past.
Charlotte Jackson is on the run from a rebellious past, determined to prove she can be a good mom to three-month-old baby, Zoe. Tired of being delegated to the back office of the racing team her famous NASCAR family owns, she sets out to establish herself as a custom design artist. But she’s out of money, luck and time, and she can’t hide in the attic at Calhoun Customs forever.
While Chase slowly loses his heart to his refrigerator thief and the baby bundle asleep in his laundry basket, Charlotte learns that sometimes family is more than just blood and DNA.
