Infiltration (Infiltration Book 1)
2120: A world ravaged by a devastating virus. Those healthy enough to live in New Nation lead a sanitized, orderly life where everything is tightly guarded by a brutal government. Lives, thoughts, information and emotions are all strictly controlled.
Now: Seventeen-year-old elite soldier Nicola Gray is sent back in time for an important assignment. She alone will stop the virus before it takes over the world – her mission, to gather intelligence, find the cause and stop the threat, whatever it takes.
She is trained to kill.
But the past is not what Nicola is expecting. Overwhelmed by an alien world, she discovers feelings she can’t handle and a world with immense personal freedom and people who care for each other. She wants to stay. She wants to live. She wants a lot of things she can’t have…
My Review
Infiltration by Susanna Rogers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Nicola Gray is a soldier – emotionless, trained to kill – and she’s been sent from the future to eliminate a target set to release a devastating virus on the world. Except when she arrives in Altabena, she finds not everything she’s been taught or told is true. And when the mind-altering drugs she’s been fed in the futuristic world of New Nation begin to wear off, Nicola finds herself discovering something she’s never had. Feelings. She begins to view her target in a different light, discovers the love of parents, and finds friendship where she least expects to, even as she is faced with the challenges of life as a teenager in the 21st century. With her mission compromised, it’s Nicola in danger as well as the boy she’s been sent to eliminate.
Infiltration is an intriguing start to this series and precedes book 2, Regeneration. I recommend reading this series in order of release as you will be left with unanswered questions that will no doubt be answered in book 2 and subsequent releases. This is a new-age story of self-discovery with a touch of intrigue and suspense. Well-written, you will be kept on edge as Nicola’s journey unfolds and she must choose where her loyalties lie. Having infiltrated the world of Altabena, I’m curious to see what Regeneration will bring. If you enjoyed movies like Ghost in the Shell and Oblivion, you’ll enjoy this read.
